Olbermann Bullshit

I just came across this rant. I know few consider Olbermann relevant but I saw that he had some 185 thousand views with 11 thousand “thumbs up” and no one really pointing out his BULLSHIT.

Beginning at the 6:34 mark of his rant Olbermann is heard to call for criminalizing the outgoing president’s policies, attempting to make a distinction between “maintaining democracy” vs. “racist, one party rule”. I am certain he was referring to Obama’s first term when the Democrats controlled everything and rammed Obamacare down America’s throat. Right? He then continues, “You’re Goddamn right that we want to criminalize policy differences that might exist between the outgoing administration and the incoming administration” and then calling for the arrest of Trump and an impressive list of others including his family, staff, and enablers. There’s a moment where suggests turning Trump buildings into Trump prisons. Gotta admit, that part was pretty funny.

Let’s play along for a moment.

We Criminalize policy differences and throw non-adherents into prisons. So this is what Trump should have followed and maybe still can. After all he IS still president. There were allegations of illegal activity made of Obama similar to Olbermann’s claims against Trump. So today Obama would be in jail. Biden and Clinton would be too. Harris is an Obama enabler so she’s wearing orange. And the media, jumpsuits for all. Trump doesn’t have enough buildings to turn into prisons for this group.

Ultimately, Olbermann is advocating for the jailing of political dissenters, stopping free speech, and establishing a one-party dictator where everyone must to vote–but only for his candidate. Next up are the reeducation camps where people with opposing opinions are taught to think correctly. Maybe Olbermann is hoping to become head of the new Schutzstaffel.

I can hear Olbermann “Hey, Goddamn it. That’s not what I meant. It’s only about Trump.”

To which I call BULLSHIT!

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. In other words, whatever you think Biden is entitled to do if he becomes president, Trump can do now. So advocate rounding’em up or keep your BULLSHIT to yourself.

The Bullshit Announcement

I heard it again. The announcement in the most solemn tone of voice. It’s the tone one hears when imminent death is expected. That moment when the doctor says, “I’m sorry, there is nothing more that can be done.” The heart sinks. At some point the thought of funeral arrangements briefly passes through the mind.

If you thought the announcement was inoperable brain cancer you’d be … wrong. But I would’ve expected that conclusion or something similar.

The real announcement: Covid Positive

Society has been programed to think the worst. The absolute fear associated with this diagnosis rivals any terminal illness. And the constant reinforcement of fear is staggering. For instance:

“If you visit family at Thanksgiving you’ll be visiting them in the hospital before Christmas”

“Everyone who catches covid should send #AmyCovidBarrett a letter letting them know what they went through, how it impacted them financially, who else got sick and what happened to them.”

“As an atheist I take no issue whatsoever with people of faith practicing their faith in a way that doesn’t impact me. We’re all free to believe in whatever number of gods we want. But when you insist it’s your right to hurt and kill others, your faith impacts me. #AmyCovidBarrett“

“Amy Coney Barrett is doing some major mental gymnastics to call herself pro-life while letting religious groups knowingly spread a deadly virus.”

I call BULLSHIT!

Besides the ridiculous thought that while we can’t visit family at Thanksgiving we could visit in the hospital and then trying to blame Justice Barrett for spreading covid (it was a 5-4 decision) … a Covid diagnosis does not automatically require hospitalization nor is it a death sentence! The above statements are nothing short of attempts to reinforce or are examples of the fear mongering surrounding Covid-19.

Propagating fear that is disproportionate to the risk is simple political manipulation, masquerading as a public health concern. So for what purpose is the public being manipulated? There is a lot of speculation and none of it is good. And why should it be good? Manipulation is bad, period. If there isn’t enough truth to convince society that manipulation becomes the mode there is something wrong. Very wrong.

Grandma was well aged when the family gathered at her home for a celebration. She came down with a cold shortly thereafter that turned in to pneumonia. She couldn’t shake it and passed away. Everyone was sad that Grandma died but no one blamed the cold or the person who may have had the cold. Viral illnesses are a part of life.

Every death is tragic yet death is certain. With great gusto we may try to postpone it but eventually we will all be visited. Perpetually hiding in our homes is to avoid calamity is not living, might lower our immunity, and increase the negative outcomes from illness.

So let’s stop spreading the BULLSHIT!

Biden/Harris: Breaking BULLSHIT

10.18.2020. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have agreed to usher “we the people” into a new era if they ever wrap up this election in their favor. A new era of unity and not division, to heal us, and restore the soul of America!

So I’ve decided to take Mr Biden and Ms. Harris at their word. I mean, why not? Joe’s an honest, hard-working person with high integrity that is above reproach. Am I right or am I right? And the same can be said of Kamala! A regular woman among women.

So here are the preliminary signals we’re watching for so we can come together as a nation, the healing to begin, and the soul of America can be revived:

In order to restore the soul of America the Biden/Harris team will denounce socialism and communism as well as all hybrids of socialism/communism. Specifically including so-called “Plans for All”, e.g., Medicare, College. All will be summarily denounced as unworkable and not inline with the soul of America.

Biden/Harris will pledge affirmation of and work towards strengthening all rights and privileges associated with the 2nd amendment to ensure the rightful possession and protection of private property in America (a primary tenet of this constitutional republic we call America), further upholding the defense of the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.

For the sake of unity and healing, Biden/Harris will fully support Black Lives Matter throughout the life cycle—conception to death. The same sentiment will be extended to all people of color and non-color.

Biden/Harris to expand on the idea of America’s right to work by adding a requirement to work for all able-bodied age appropriate Americans.

Biden/Harris to acknowledge the historical concept of family as the building block of a safe, free, and prosperous society. Further acknowledging the biological sex as the norms and expression within society.

Why? Because anything less to bring America together is partisan rhetoric and complete BULLSHIT!

Transparent Bullshit

11.16.2020. Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) Jocelyn Bronson (D) made the following announcement through a Tweet:

So SOS dumps documents relating to the 2020 election in Michigan on to the legislature. Why couldn’t this announcement simply say “we’ve complied with the legislature’s subpoena”? I think it’s because there be BULLSHIT within. Let’s break it down.

SOS’s Commitment? Questionable. If this was truly a commitment to transparency the announcement of transparency would not have been needed. It simply would have happened. Actions speak louder than words. If the actions are true there is no need to repeat. Repeating is only for show.

“Underscore the fairness” Much like the SOS’s “Fact Check” page regarding the electoral process, these 1,100 documents are a mere smoke screen. I would bet my life savings that they will not show any fraud, at least to the scale of the accusations .

Let’s pretend just for a moment and say that the election was wrought with fraud. People did whatever people did. I can guarantee that no one, not one person, wrote a memo. It’s not going to show up in 1,100 or 2,200 or a 22 billion pages. If someone committed fraud with the votes they certainly committed fraud filling out the paperwork. If they lied about the ballot count they lied about following procedures. So the idea that this act underscores fairness is complete BULLSHIT!

Now the kickers. Questionable subpoena and partisan agenda. These comments at the end of the Tweet point to the real motive behind the announcement. It’s not transparency and it is not fairness. It is an attempt to undermine the legitimate oversite of the legislature. (Remember the justification of investigation by the House of Reps in D.C. – Oversite) It is an attempt to garner sympathy from her head-nodding, partisan supporters. Its a smoke screen to turn attention away from the investigation and litigation of the 2020 election in Michigan.

So I call BULLSHIT on this Tweet and Madam Secretary of State has a certain odor about her.

Secretary of BULLSHIT

11.16.2020. Jocelyn Benson (D) Secretary of State for the State of Michigan premiered a video on her Twitter account (@jocelynbenson) that included a link to the Secretary of State’s FACTCHECK page.

The video tells the people of Michigan that:

“the election is over, the American people have voted, and ethical, experienced, committed election workers from both sides of the aisle counted every valid vote.”

She continues by saying all the claims of irregularities, affidavits, and lawsuits are mere a attempt to:

“erode your confidence in what was an extraordinarily well-run election.”

Benson goes on to say that she is:

“confident that as any inquires proceed in Michigan or elsewhere, they will only reveal the truth and what so many of us involved in this process already know: The 2020 presidential election was smooth, secure, transparent, and the results are an accurate reflection of the will of the voters. So now I’m asking for your help. Just as we did during the election, let’s respond to the misinformation with the facts. You can find a collection of the fact checks we’ve issued…”

The impression I came away with after watching this video and reading the Fact Check page was an Obi-wan Konobi moment where he waves his Jedi hand at me saying, “There is no voter fraud here.” Of course that only works on the weak minded.

Obi-wan aside, let’s–for a moment–give the benefit of the doubt to Jocelyn Benson. Assume everything she says is accurate and hundreds of bi-partisans check the votes and the outcome stands. Confidence in the electoral process is restored and the voting public gives a big sigh of relief–come what may. I can live with that. That’s America. But consider the other direction. Benson has given assurances that not only Michigan but the whole country (“Michigan or elsewhere”) has no voter fraud. So if voter fraud is found or voting tallying was not transparent, or the outcome is not an accurate reflection of the will of the people then Benson’s assurances would be baseless. Benson has staked her reputation on her statements. If found to be false I’m sure she would immediately and publicly apologize and submit her resignation. (And I have ocean front property in Wyoming I’m selling…)

So let’s breakdown some of these statements.

“the election is over”. Bullshit. All the votes are not yet counted and in some places there are recounts still going on. Jedi hand wave?

“every valid vote”. Why not every legal vote? Is there a difference between legal and valid? Is this a Bill Clinton moment “It depends on what your definition of is, is.”

“extraordinarily well-run election.” Extraordinary doesn’t have so many questions. Extraordinary leaves not doubt. BULLSHIT. This election in Michigan and elsewhere was far from extraordinary.

“so now I’m asking for your help”. In other words, help me silence the critics. Only believe what I tell you is truth. Don’t think. Don’t investigate. Just believe. And BULLSHIT moment.

Let’s turn our attention to the Fact Check page. Let me ask a question. Who’s job is it to ensure free, fair, and legitimate elections in Michigan? If you answered Benson, congratulations! I grant you 10 points. Who is ultimately being responsible for the legitimacy of the 2020 election? Another 10 points for the answer of Benson!

Imagine for a moment that you are on trial but the only facts in the case are what you say are the facts. What would be the outcome? Here’s another 10 points…. YOU WOULD WIN! So it is in this case, the Secretary of State is telling you what the facts are in the examination of the 2020 election. Not only that these are THE facts but the ONLY facts. So anything else is partisan rhetoric.

i call BULLSHIT!

First, Benson does not get to determine the facts. Research, examination, testimony, and much more will determine the facts. Not the person who oversees the electoral process.

Second, the “Fact Check” site has very little factual information. It does seem to be a good DESCRIPTION of how the electoral processes are supposed to work but little to nothing about what was reality of the process in 2020.

This Fact Check page seems like the husband with his mistress caught in the act of adultery by his wife. Then the husband trying to convince the wife that what she is seeing isn’t really what she is seeing. … i call BULLSHIT!

Pipeline of Bullshit

Now cometh Her Excellency Gretchen Whitmer, esteemed…cough, cough, Governor of the Great State of Michigan. A few days ago it was announced that Enbridge would have to shut down a pipeline carrying oil and gas through the Straits of Mackinac lake bottom. The pipeline is nearly 70 years old and the company continues to have a valid easement through the Straits. At issue, per Whitmer is the “unreasonable risk” of continuing to operate the pipeline.

Is it unreasonable? Not a clue.

But I call bullshit on her statement:

“Most importantly, Enbridge has imposed on the people of Michigan an unacceptable risk of a catastrophic oil spill in the Great Lakes that could devastate our economy and our way of life. “

This bullshit statement is pure hypocrisy. Michigan’s economy and way of life is the furthest thing from the care and concern of Her Excellency. Consider the Covid-19 restrictions that Her excellency has placed upon the populace of this once proud workforce–some of the most restrictive in the nation. To what end? The economic devastation to the state’s economy is massive directly due to the shutdowns within the state. Numerous small businesses shut down permanently. Hometown pharmacies closing sending patients to some chain retailer based out of state. So many people wondering “now what?”

And the way of life? Bullshit. Her Excellency has aligned herself with political positions opposing Michigan’s way of life. Perhaps she has forgotten that Michigan is known as the Automobile Industry Capital of the World? Automobiles that run on gasoline, a petroleum product.

ummm…. o-i-l.

I need more research but I can’t help but wonder if shutting down the pipeline has more to do with Joe Biden’s “transition away from fossil fuels” than the safety of the Straits of Mackinac.

So Your Excellency, I call BULLSHIT! And you smell as if you’ve rolled in it.

Lyft’d Behind Bullshit

11.14.2020. Audrey Conklin wrote on Fox News about Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty and her Lyft/Uber driver. The driver and the commissioner apparently argued enough that the driver pulled in to a gas station then demanded Hardesty get out of the vehicle. Hardesty refused and called 911 telling the dispatcher “it was cold and she was a woman and alone.” The dispatcher informed her that no laws were broken. The driver then called 911 because the commissioner would not leave the car. It would seem that laws were broken by Hardesty as the police arrived. No charges were filed. It is also noteworthy that Hardesty has authored an amendment with the city counsel to defund the Portland police.

Then at a city council meeting Hardesty is quoting as saying,

“This is another example of being Black in America and being put in a position where I have to be the one to look out for my personal safety. I didn’t expect the Lyft driver to do it, certainly didn’t expect the police to do it. It was my responsibility to make sure I got home safe. When you’re living in a city where white supremacists are proudly riding around in their big trucks with their flags, and you’re a black person, and somebody wants to put [you] on the side of the road at night — not gonna happen.”

A fair question is “was the station open or closed?” Apparently this occurred at night. So dropping someone at a station that was closed wouldn’t be illegal but it wouldn’t be nice either.

Beyond that question, Hardesty’s statement is BULLSHIT!

Personal safety is just that–personal. It has nothing to do with being “Black in America.” Each of us is responsible to take precautions for own safety. But here a truism, “Bad things happen even with the best precautions”, so there’s that.

Hardesty states that she didn’t expect the Lyft driver to protect her yet she wouldn’t get out of his vehicle when asked. Sounds as though she felt protected with the Lyft driver.

Hardesty further stated that she didn’t expect the police to protect her…and yet… she called the police. I would be curious to know who she would have called if her amendment was successful in defunding the police “for other resources”? Maybe a social worker would have showed up to talk over the situation.

What did she need to be protected from? Her comments suggest the white supremacists. Big trucks. Flags. This is the biggest bullshit of her statement. Nothing short of attempting to make the incident about race, dividing her city. This is pure bigotry, labeling a group of people as such. Unfortunately, many non-thinkers are nodding their head in agreement. A truck and a flag do not make someone a white supremacists any more than hoodie makes a black person a criminal. Both thoughts are bigoted.

So Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty , I call BULLSHIT on your little speech blaming everyone but yourself. And you smell as if you fell into it.

Bullshit:

I remember a card game called “Bullshit”. To win you had to be a better liar than everyone else. Sooner or later someone called “Bullshit” and all the cards were on the table. In other words, the truth came out.

Today’s game of Bullshit is a little harder. Finding truth takes a lot more effort. People hide it, distort it, and flat out lie about it. Finding original sources is difficult at best. We no longer can trust journalists to do the digging and report facts with his or her bias in check. I understand that at one time in ancient America, you know, the 20th century, if a reporter was caught with his or her bias showing they would be ousted from the profession–not just the job. No longer is the profession self-regulating.

So back to bullshit.

Wikipedia defines the word as: “It is mostly a slang term and a profanity which means “nonsense”, especially as a rebuke in response to communication or actions viewed as deceptive, misleading, disingenuous, unfair or false.”

Etymonline.com offers some history of the word: “eloquent and insincere rhetoric,” 1915, American English slang; see bull (n.1) + shit (n.), probably because it smells. But bull in the sense of “trivial or false statements” (1914), which usually is associated with this, might be a continuation of Middle English bull “false talk, fraud” (see bull (n.3)).

Deceptive, misleading, unfair, false, and it smells. Yep. BULLSHIT!
